Finally, we're finally making headway in our quest to impeach President Donald Trump!
Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, a top candidate in the DNC election race, has banded together with other Democrats to take down the orange buffoon.
“I think that Donald Trump has already done a number of things which legitimately raise the question of impeachment,” Ellison said Wednesday night during CNN's debate.
Ellison claims that Trump has violated the emoluments clause, a constitutional clause which is supposed to prevent presidents from receiving payment from other governments. Since foreign dignitaries have stayed at Trump's hotels, it clearly violates that clause.
Trump has said that he plans to donate it to charity, but I for one find that hard to believe coming from the Liar in Chief.
From The Hill:
Ellison added that he doesn't believe impeachment discussions are only about Trump, but about protecting the “integrity” of the presidency.
“We need to begin investigations not to go after Donald Trump, but protect the presidency of the United States to make sure nobody can monetize the presidency and make profit off it for his own gain,” he said.
Democrats will meet in Atlanta on Saturday to choose their next chair from the eight candidates. Ellison is seen as a front-runner, alongside former Labor Secretary Tom Perez.
