The professor who predicted a Trump victory in the 2016 election has news that will give the president pause. He's predicting that America will soon see a President Pence.
Allan Lichtman, an American University professor, caught a lot of flak from his peers last year when he unfortunately was able to predict that Trump was going to win before any other analysts were able to make a clear forecast. He used a formula he had developed and previously applied to 8 different presidential election cycles which made its prediction based on a couple different factors, but mainly the popularity of the party that was in control of the White House at the time.
His new prediction is what is catching everyone's eye, however, and it is that Trump will be impeached.
According to Politico:
The people who paid attention only to the professor’s first prediction include the commander in chief, whom Lichtman says reached out to him during the transition.
“Taking time out of preparing to become the world’s most powerful leader, he wrote me a personal note, saying ‘Professor — Congrats — good call,’” Lichtman writes in “The Case for Impeachment,” an advance copy of which was shared with POLITICO. “What Trump overlooked, however, was my ‘next big prediction’: that, after winning the presidency, he would be impeached.”
He went on to talk about all the possible offences that Trump committed that could get him impeached, like “charges of treason with Russia, abuse of power and emoluments violations” which include “Trump’s housing violations, charity problems, potential violations of the Cuba embargo and Trump University.”
While I'm not thrilled about a President Pence either, getting Trump out may at least be a step in the right direction.
