During a discussion over the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Pelosi made a statement that made the whole room grow silent.

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was an Obama era policy that allows certain illegal immigrants who were minors when they entered to apply for a renewable two-year period of deferred deportation that allows them to apply for a work permit.

Trump recently announced that he would be pushing Congress to end the program.Former President Obama predicted this would happen in his final press conference as president.

Former President Obama predicted this would happen in his final press conference as president.

“The notion that we would just arbitrarily or because of politics punish those kids when they didn't do something themselves … would merit my speaking out,” Barack Obama stated.

The whole point of this was to help immigration officials to not have to focus their efforts on individuals who behave and to focus their attention to more dangerous people. More than that, if this program is removed, you'll be hurting people who have done absolutely nothing wrong.

Trump predictably took to Twitter to announce the decision:

As expected, there has been opposition from the Democrats. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D) have officially announced that they will sue President Trump if he tries to end DACA.

“Dreamers are Americans in every way. They played by the rules. They pay their taxes. And they've earned the right to stay in the only home they have ever known,” Cuomo stated.

Funny enough, even those in his own party are turning against him on this decision, and that includes Ohio Governor John Kasich. Kasich made a point to go to the media to decry these ridiculous actions in front of the country.

“If the dreamers want to go somewhere and live, come to Ohio,” he said.

As the opposition grows, we hope to see enough in his own party oppose it so that his attempts to get rid of the dreamers will fall flat on its face.

What's Happening Now:

Democratic leaders recently met with President Trump at a dinner to discuss the future of the DACA program.

Pelosi, the only woman in attendance, was forced to interject over others in a loud conversation just to be heard.

When the men at the table kept talking over her when discussing the details of their plan, Pelosi raised her voice and asked, “Do the women get to talk around here?”

According to sources familiar with what happened, the conversations quickly ceased, and she wasn't interrupted again.

After the event, the Democrats said they were hopeful about the dreamer's futures.

“We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the president,” Schumer and Pelosi said in a statement. “We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”
