Omarosa Manigault Newman is no stranger to the spotlight. She starred on NBC’s “The Apprentice,” where Donald Trump served as the reality show’s host. She appeared on the show several times, developing a working relationship with Trump after the show ended.
During the 2016 election, she became more involved with Trump, being appointed various positions such as the director of African-American outreach for the Trump Campaign, one of nine members of the transition team, being brought on as a White House staff, and even serving as the assistant to the president and director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liason. She has since left the administration.
Now, despite her claims to be looking forward to “staying away from the media,” she has made it back into reality TV and has made headlines.
Manigault Newman dominated news again when she revealed that she would “never” again vote for President Trump.
“God no. Never. Not in a million years, never,” Manigault Newman said on the explosive season premiere of “Celebrity Big Brother” when was asked if she would vote for her former boss again.
The reality TV show features a constant stream that allows viewers to observe intimate moments of the cast. On various occasions, Omarosa spoke about her time in the White House. “It’s just been so incredibly hard to shoulder what I shouldered because I was so loyal to a person and I didn’t realize that by being loyal to him it was going to make me lose a hundred other friends,” Omarosa explained to her fellow “Big Brother” contestant Shannon Elizabeth.
“When you’re in the middle of the hurricane it’s hard to see the destruction on the outer bands,” she also said.
The most telling conversation that was featured was one between Manigault Newman and Ross Matthews.
She stated that she was “haunted” by Trump’s tweets and said that the United States would not be okay under his leadership.
“I was haunted by tweets every day,” she said. “Like, what is he going to tweet next?”
“It’s going to not be OK, it’s not,” she responded when asked if Americans should be worried about Trump. “It’s so bad.”
The White House, pressed for a comment, stated that Manigault Newman no longer has contact with Trump.
“Omarosa was fired three times on ‘The Apprentice,’ and this was the fourth time we let her go,” deputy press secretary Raj Shah said. “She had limited contact with the president while here. She has no contact now.”
